Di Wallace, Naturopath and Skin Health Specialist at The Psoriasis & Skin Clinic Central Coast
-
Di's journey into natural medicine began long before she became a naturopath.
Before studying health sciences, she worked as a chef in Australia and overseas. Her passion for food sparked a lifelong curiosity about the connection between nutrition, health and the body's remarkable ability to heal.
After completing a Diploma in Sports Injuries, Di graduated as a naturopath in 1997. This combination of nutrition, herbal medicine and clinical practice continues to shape her holistic approach today.
She believes that while skin conditions appear on the surface, they are often influenced by what is happening within the body.
-
In 2007, Di received her Certificate of Authority through the Psoriasis & Skin Clinic and completed advanced training under Professor Tirant in Melbourne.
She later owned and operated the Psoriasis & Skin Clinic – Wollongong, working with patients experiencing complex and often long-standing inflammatory skin conditions.
Over the years, Di has developed particular expertise in supporting people living with:
· Rosacea
· Acne
· Chronic itching (Pruritus)
· Sensitive and inflammatory skin conditions
She understands that chronic skin conditions rarely have a single cause. Symptoms may be influenced by genetics, immune function, gut health, nutrition, hormones, stress, illness and environmental factors.
Every patient presents with a unique history, and understanding that story remains one of the most rewarding aspects of her work.
-
Throughout her career, Di has worked across many areas of healthcare, combining hands-on clinical experience with leadership, education and service development.
Her professional experience includes:
Private naturopathic practice
Operating multidisciplinary health clinics
Teaching cooking schools and community nutrition programs
Mentoring practitioners
Teaching stretch and flexibility classes
Territory Sales Manager for a leading practitioner supplement company
Developing telehealth naturopathic services for a Sydney-based women's health medical practice
Assisting a leading medicinal cannabis clinic to develop a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA)-compliant telehealth service model
These diverse roles have provided valuable insight into both patient care and the evolving delivery of healthcare across Australia.
-
Item In 2024, Di returned to private practice and established Psoriasis & Skin Clinic – Gosford, offering both face-to-face and secure online consultations.

Wherever patients live, her goal remains the same—to provide personalised, evidence-informed care that helps people better understand and manage chronic skin conditions.description

Item descriptSkin is constantly changing and reflects many of the processes occurring inside the body.
For people living with chronic skin conditions, symptoms may fluctuate depending on:
Stress
Gut health
Nutrition
Hormonal changes
Sleep
Illness
Weather
Environmental exposures
Lifestyle factors
Understanding these patterns allows treatment to move beyond simply managing symptoms towards identifying the factors that may be contributing to flare-ups.
Helping patients recognise these connections and seeing them regain confidence in their skin, is one of the most rewarding parts of Di's clinical practice.
-
Di believes that successful skin care involves more than treating visible symptoms.
Her approach focuses on:
1. Providing practical support during active flare-ups.
2. Investigating the underlying factors contributing to skin inflammation.
3. Identifying patterns that may influence disease activity.
4. Developing personalised treatment plans based on each patient's health history.
5. Empowering patients through education so they can better understand and manage their skin over the long term.
While not every chronic skin condition can be cured, improving the severity, frequency and impact of flare-ups can make a meaningful difference to quality of life.
